About Us

United Way has been very successful and has had a long tradition of being a volunteer driven organization working to make our community a better place to live.
As we our proud of our history we also look to improve our way of bringing about lasting change.

The Community Impact model is centered on addressing our community's needs with the most effective programs to have the greatest impact.

The Community Impact Steps are:

Impact Areas

• Successful Children & Youth: To provide children and youth opportunities for growth, development, safety, supplemental education, physical exercise and leadership skills to prepare for adulthood.

• Community Wellness: To help ensure that all residents in our community can meet their basic needs for food, health care, clothing and emergency assistance.

• Strengthening Families: To increase the ability for our community residents to live independently and self-sufficiently to their maximum potential through opportunities for education, counseling, employment, affordable housing, transportation and quality childcare.

Community Leaders in Action

United Way is an organization governed by a 23-member Board of Directors. Volunteers serve on committees, task forces, and as fund raisers ensuring that United Way belongs to the community and that the decisions made reflect the wishes of those who live and work in Grayson County. When you see them, thank them for their commitment and diligence in providing courageous leadership surrounding what matters most.

Executive Committee:

Exercises the powers of the Board of Directors by staffing, administering, directing and controlling the governance of the UWGC activities.

CIT Oversight Committee:

Administers the allocation process and manages the community initiative grant program. The Committee provides guidance to the Community Impact Teams and is responsible for policies regarding agency relations, the fund agreements with agencies, notification of allocation amounts, and significant process changes.

Planning Committee:

Establishes mission and vision, formulating a “blueprint” for developing and implementing goals. The Committee confirms that functions align with strategic focus and performance and promotes community impact. In addition, the Committee reviews and ensure compliance with requirements and standards from United Way of America, including the periodic completion of a Board self-assessment.

Finance & Facilities Committee:

Directs the fiscal affairs of United Way of Grayson County and recommends related policies to the Board of Directors. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, initial approval of the annual budget, safeguarding and investing the monies of UWGC, monitoring pledge collection, reviewing internal controls and authorizing the annual audit by a firm of certified public accountants. In addition, the Committee oversees matters related to facilities management such as repairs, insurance and public usage.
